.22 Rimfire Sporter

22 Rimfire Sporter matches
This event is held on the first Tuesday of the month May through August.  May, June and July, shooting starts at 6:30 pm and August starts at 6:00 pm due to the shorter daylight hours.
This is a three position match with both slow and rapid fire phases.  Slow fire allows 1 minute per shot.  The rapid fire phases consist of five shots in 35 seconds, time to reload and then another 5 shot string.  Slings and scopes are allowed and 50 rounds are needed for the course.  Ten shots are allowed for warm-up/ sight check and forty shots for record.  Prone and sitting phases are shot at 50 yards and standing at 25 yards.  All are shot with 22 long rifle cartridges.
Rifles with sights are supposed to weigh 7.5 pounds or less but we don’t follow NRA rules too closely as these are just club matches.  So, if your rifle is a trifle too heavy, don’t worry about it—just come on out and enjoy the fun!

Rimfire Sporter Match
May 4, 2010

The weather was cold and breezy so only the dedicated shooters came to start the season.  We shot our sighters and then got busy before the light was gone.  (We shoot Tuesday evenings May through August.)  May, June and July, we start at 6:30 pm and August at 6:00.

We shoot 40 shots for record so there are 400 points possible.  The course of fire is 10 shots each in the following stages: standing slow fire;  prone sf;  sitting rapid fire; and prone rf.  You get  1 minute per shot in the slow fire stages and the rapid fire stages are shot in 35 second-5 shot strings.
The results for this first match of the season are:
1st   Dick Hohstadt        391-17X
2nd  Dave Johnson         382-11X
3rd  Jim Way                    380-9X
