Fred and Hazel Alexis from Friends of the NRA reported that the Banquet in La Grande raised $60,000.00. $208,000.00 was available last year for grants that ranged from $8,000.00 to $20,000.00. One half of the money is sent to NRA National and one half stays local and is available for grants. November 15th is the deadline for application for grant money. Hazel offered to help write grants or give advice throughout the process to make sure everything is done properly. The following qualifies: Kids/youth programs, safety classes, 4-H projects, scholarships/internships, guns, ammo, range improvements, targets, etc. Their desire is that the money come back to Union County. This program is not affiliated with the NRA and there are no strings attached.
Dave Bingner is wanting to have some volunteers to help with next year's 22 silhouette shoots next year (Dec - March).
